Smaller space living is not a trend, it’s a way of living for people starting out, downsizing or consciously making the choice to live on less. We’ve gathered ten ideas for maximizing your small space to the fullest.
1. Smaller scale furniture
You can still have the table, the seating, the TV stand – but, you may have to be creative. Go with smaller scale furniture to get in all your furniture needs.
2. Acrylic furniture
Acrylic furniture can be a great accent to your home. It can provide function without adding bulk because of its transparency.
3. Use corners and nooks
Every home has an awkward space that is difficult to do anything with. But don’t let this space go unused. Fit something in like a little desk!
4. Less is more
One of the best way to maximize space is to not over fill it with stuff. Keep things functional.
5. Shelves and more shelves
Install shelves and stack them high if you can. Shelves are especially useful in kitchens and bathrooms.
6. Work in storage where you can
If you can add storage (exposed or unexposed), do it! Think of the spaces you can use extra storage like the laundry room or front entrance.
7. Go light…everywhere
Playing with darker colours is fun, but if you really want to make a space look bigger, then go lighter, even with the flooring if possible.
